According to 90min, Chelsea are considering a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire after losing Wesley Fofana to a cruciate ligament injury.
Fofana has undergone ‘reconstructive surgery’ on his ACL with a less than a month before the start of the new Premier League season.
The report adds that Fofana is likely to miss the majority of next season as a result of the surgery and Chelsea are now quickly assessing defensive options available in the current transfer window.
One of Chelsea’s options is former Manchester United captain Maguire. The Blues have made enquiries about the defender’s situation at Old Trafford.
Chelsea’s scouting department have cited Maguire as one of the best options on the market.
Maguire is also attracting interest from West Ham, Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Juventus after he was stripped of the captaincy at Manchester United.
