Chelsea star suffers injury scare ahead of pre-season tour of the USA

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea right-back Reece James has had a precautionary scan on his knee, after feeling pain ahead of the start of pre-season earlier this week.

Chelsea are expecting positive news after the scan, they will take no risks with a player who has endured a torrid 12 months with a series of injury problems.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to make James integral to his plans and hopes he can build his fitness through warm-up matches against Wrexham, Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Lyon star Rayan Cherki who has been hailed as the next Eden Hazard, according to Caughtoffside via Evening Standard.

The report also adds that Lyon want above £40m for the young winger, a fee which the Blues are yet to meet.

However, Chelsea are said to be ahead of AC Milan in negotiations to land Cherki.
