According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Daily Mail, Romelu Lukaku does not want to return to London as he aims to force through a move from Chelsea to Inter Milan.

Lukaku joined the Blues for £97.5million from Inter in summer 2021 but endured a disappointing season before being sent back on loan to the Nerazzurri last season.

Inter Milan are interested in signing Lukaku permanently this summer after Chelsea rejected another loan proposal but the Italians are yet to table a proposal that satisfies Chelsea.

Chelsea are prepared to accept around £35m for the transfer of Lukaku.

Chelsea have delayed the return of Lukaku to pre-season training until Monday with the expectation that Inter Milan will sign the striker before then.

If no agreement is reached before Monday, Lukaku will not turn up for training at Chelsea’s Cobham base or even fly back to the English capital as he aims to grease the wheels of a move to Inter.

The report adds Lukaku is ‘only thinking’ of a return to the San Siro and ‘knows’ that whatever happens, he will not be playing at Stamford Bridge next season.
