Premier League side Brighton have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, according to 90min.

Colwill impressed on loan at Brighton last season and despite Brighton’s willingness to pay a club-record £40m fee to sign the centre-back on a permanent deal, Chelsea insist he is not for sale.

Brighton have now admitted defeat in their pursuit of Colwill and have opened talks with Ajax over Nigeria international Bassey, according to 90min.

Meanwhile, Colwill wants talks with Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino over his future at the club, according to Daily Mail.

Colwill is viewed as one of the hottest prospects in his position in the country, and Chelsea are keen to keep hold of Colwill, with newly-appointed manager Pochettino seeing him as part of his future plans.
