Chelsea are ready to pay £64.5million to sign Manchester United transfer target and Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, according to the Mirror.
The Red Devils have tracked the Porto goalkeeper for several months but Chelsea could now hijack Manchester United’s move for the Portugal international goalkeeper.
Chelsea, who recently pulled out of the race to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, are willing to pay Costa’s £64.5million release clause in instalments.
Chelsea are hopeful that three instalments of £21.5m will be enough to convince Porto to sell up. Such a method worked when the Blues secured the British record deal for Enzo Fernandez in January.
Recent reports suggested Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was ready to back Kepa Arrizabalaga but contrasting reports now state that he is keen to bring Costa on board and have Kepa as his deputy.
