According to Diario AS, Italian giants AC Milan are now leading the race to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and have been keen to return to Inter Milan next season. Inter Milan are only willing to sign Lukaku on loan but Chelsea will only listen to offers for a permanent deal.

With Inter Milan signing France international striker Marcus Thuram as a free agent this summer, Lukaku’s hopes of returning to Inter Milan has now gotten slimmer.

Chelsea signed Lukaku two years ago from Inter Milan for €113million but are now willing to accept offers of around €40million for the sale of Lukaku this summer.

After selling Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for €70million, AC Milan are willing to spend €40million to sign Lukaku this summer.
