Arsenal have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Kai Havertz for £65million this summer.

Arsenal’s decision to pay £65million for Havertz caused quite a stir among Arsenal supporters and even gave Chelsea fans reason to celebrate his departure in some cases.

However, Arteta has now defended Arsenal’s decision to sign Havertz from Chelsea for £65million.

Arteta said: “Talent comes at a price, and at Arsenal, we are always interested in youngsters with experience. I repeat I’m not talking about players from other clubs, but in the case of Kai, he has already shown a lot, including a Champions League.

“He is a talented player, versatile and only 24 years old.”

An official announcement of the transfer is due next week in which the player will undergo media duties and fans from both sides can hear what he thinks of the switch across the capital.
