Premier League rivals Arsenal are confident of signing Chelsea star Kai Havertz despite having a first bid rejected by Chelsea, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is pushing for the signing of Havertz with German club Bayern Munich now entering the race for the German international.

Chelsea’s £70million valuation is above that of the Gunners, who are looking at closer to £50million. The player himself seems open to a move, but won’t actively push for an exit.

Meanwhile, according to The Athletic, Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.

The 21 year old striker, who represented Senegal at the World Cup, has a €35million (£29.8m) release clause in his Villarreal contract.

Chelsea intend to negotiate with the La Liga club to complete the deal and bring the Senegal international to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Jackson joined Villarreal in 2019 and, after progressing through their youth ranks, made his La Liga debut in 2021.

Jackson finished the 2022-23 season strongly, netting nine goals in his side’s final eight La Liga matches.
