Joao Felix looks set to remain in the Premier League after Chelsea opted against signing him permanently this summer, according to Evening Standard.

The report adds: “Joao Felix could return to the Premier League next season – though it won’t be with Chelsea.

“Marca report that Aston Villa and Wolves are the favourites to sign the forward on loan, with Felix potentially having to settle for a club further down the League than he had hoped.

“It’s claimed that the 23-year-old is likely to leave Atletico this summer due to his strained relationship with boss Diego Simeone.”

Meanwhile, according to former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, a move to Newcastle United would be an “upgrade” on Chelsea for Joao Felix.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I thought he was one of the sparks for Chelsea.

“He looked really dangerous even in his first few games.

“It has been difficult, you think of the pressure surrounding Chelsea, the managerial situation, the money that has been spent.

“He is obviously enjoying himself in the Premier League, Newcastle are an up and coming team, they are in the Champions League next season so he might see that as an upgrade at this moment in time.

“Obviously Chelsea will come back next season but it does not look like his future is at Atletico.“
