According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Chelsea could make a ‘surprise’ signing with experience with Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante set to leave this summer.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “It wouldn’t surprise me if Chelsea, along with a player like Caicedo, surprise us on the midfield front and look for somebody that has leadership skills and proven Premier League experience because everyone kind of focuses on the younger players like Caicedo and Lavia.

“And of course that’s Chelsea’s project, but when you potentially lose Kovacic, Kante goes and when Jorginho goes then along with all of these youngsters, there is a logic that Chelsea may also want some experience whether that is experience by age or experience by Premier League games.”

Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have no intention to pay €60million plus add-ons which Chelsea are requesting for the transfer of Kai Havertz this summer.

Romano said: “Real Madrid have no intention to pay big fee for Kai Havertz. He’s appreciated by Ancelotti but no plans to spend €60m plus add-ons requested by Chelsea.

“Negotiations currently off, could only change if price tag will be lower later in the window.”
