PSG ready to sell Kylian Mbappe to Chelsea this summer

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to sell their star player Kylian Mbappe this summer to the highest bidder if he doesn’t sign a new contract, according to The Athletic.

This comes after Mbappe informed Paris Saint-Germain on Monday that he won’t opt in on a one-year extension in his contract which would have seen him stay at the French club until 2025.

Mbappe signed a two year contract with Paris Saint-Germain last year until the end of the 2023-24 season, with an option of extending the contract until the 2024-25 season.

With Mbappe now informing Paris Saint-Germain that he won’t opt in on the extension, the French club are keen on selling him this summer to avoid losing him as a free agent next year.

It’s yet to be seen whether Chelsea would submit an offer for the France international this summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana believes that French compatriot Christopher Nkunku would be a good signing for Chelsea.

“I hope he comes and plays for us. He would be a very good signing,” said Fofana on Telefoot.

The Chelsea defender added: “It was a difficult season. We didn’t finish where we wanted, but I hope next year will be better.”

Chelsea have already completed the signing of Nkunku from German club RB Leipzig.
