Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has trained with the senior England side this week, the national team have confirmed.

The Chelsea defender, who shone on loan with Brighton this term, was part of the England Under-21 side preparing for the European Championships but has been allowed to move up from Lee Carsley’s side to join in and help Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions at St George’s Park.

This comes following the news that Colwill’s loan team-mate at Brighton, Lewis Dunk, failed to report for international duty due to injury.

Colwill joins his Chelsea colleague Conor Gallagher in the senior side for training this week.

England travel to Malta on Friday, before hosting North Macedonia at Wembley the following Monday, with both games European Championship qualifiers.

Congratulations, Levi!
