Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter will leave the club as a free agent this summer and is attracting interest from Isreali side Maccabi Haifa, according to Evening Standard.

Maccabi Haifa have tracked the 24 year old goalkeeper for over a year and are keen on signing him as he won’t count towards overseas quotas due to his Jewish ancestry.

Baxter was born in London to parents of Jewish descent and will leave Chelsea this summer having not played a senior match for the Blues after 17 years with the club.

The goalkeeper, who recently enjoyed a loan spell at Hull City, is also of interest to Reading but remains unwilling to drop down to League One after two seasons in the Championship along with previous experience in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County.

Maccabi Haifa, 15-time Israeli champions, can offer Baxter a run in the Champions League and are keen to wrap up a deal before their first-round qualifier in the middle of July.
