Chelsea have now increased the club’s salary offer to Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Metro.
The report claims the Blues have now increased the salary being offered to Ugarte to €3.5million (£3.1m) per year, in addition to a number of performance-based incentives and bonuses.
It is a substantial increase on Chelsea’s previous offer of €2million, but one that still falls short of the €5m package offered by Paris Saint-Germain who are also keen to sign the midfielder as part of their rebuild.
PSG are believed to have offered Sporting more favourable terms regarding the transfer fee.
Chelsea have offered to pay Ugarte’s €60m (£51.5m) clause in multiple instalments but PSG are willing to split the cost across two payments of €30m (£25.7m).
