Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel turned down Chelsea’s proposal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City last summer, according to The Guardian via Metro.
The report states: “Thomas Tuchel turned down Chelsea’s proposal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City last summer.
“Chelsea were in the market for a new striker having allowed Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter on loan following his disappointing first season back at Stamford Bridge.
“However, Chelsea were unable to complete a deal until the closing stages of the transfer window when they signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
“Jesus, meanwhile, ended up joining Arsenal in a £45 million deal from City, with Mikel Arteta also keen to bolster his attacking options.
“The Guardian reports that Chelsea’s hierarchy consulted Tuchel about the prospect of signing Jesus last summer but idea was rejected.
“The report claims that Tuchel’s refusal to back a move for Jesus was met with ‘surprise’ by Chelsea’s board.”
