Former Chelsea star William Gallas has claimed Chelsea record signing Enzo Fernandez is not a world-class player.

Chelsea signed Fernandez from Portuguese club Benfica in January for a British record fee of £107million.

Asked who incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino should look to build his Chelsea team around next season, Gallas told Genting Casino: “That is a good question. I am not sure.

“We know that Thiago Silva will be there for one more season. N’Golo Kante hasn’t signed a new contract yet, so it looks like he wont stay.

“I can’t answer that question. There are so many doubts about Chelsea at the moment. For example, who is going to be the striker next season?

“I don’t think Romelu Lukaku will come back. Chelsea need to sign a new striker. They need another experienced centre back. They need to add a midfielder with experience, a world-class player.

“Yes, they have Enzo Fernandez, but he is not at the top, top level yet, despite winning a World Cup. So I don’t know which players the next manger will be looking to build around.”
