According to The Mirror via Sports Mole, incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has given the club the greenlight to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Pochettino, who has agreed terms to become Chelsea’s new head coach, is set to take over the reins from interim boss Frank Lampard at the end of the season.

Prising the 27-year-old away from the Italian giants could prove difficult, though, with his contract set to run until June 2027.

Chelsea are looking to persuade Inter Milan to part ways with Onana by offering a player in return.

The Blues have unsuccessfully put forward Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah and Mendy as potential candidates for a swap deal.

The report claims that Chelsea have now offered Mateo Kovacic, who made 97 appearances for Inter during a two-year spell with the club between 2013 and 2015.

Onana has kept eight clean sheets in 12 Champions League appearances this season, helping his side progress to next month’s final where they will face Manchester City.
