Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Gavi as a free agent at the end of the season.

Despite being only 18, Gavi is an important player for Barcelona and Spain but Barcelona’s financial troubles could see him leave the Spanish club as a free agent this summer.

According to Spanish media outlet Sport via Metro.co.uk, Gavi has told Barcelona boss Xavi he has no intention of leaving Barcelona this summer despite Chelsea’s effort to prise him away from the Camp Nou.

Xavi has reportedly privately spoken to the young midfielder to reassure him he remains a vital player under him despite the uncertainty, telling him he ‘cannot imagine his midfield without him’
