Manchester United and Liverpool are in a battle to sign Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer, according to 90min via The Express.

Kovacic has won the Champions League four times, three times with Real Madrid and once with Chelsea.

The report adds: “According to 90min, the agents of Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic will hold talks with Manchester United and Liverpool over a prospective move this summer.

“Kovacic, 28, is out of contract in 2024 and as of yet there is no sign he will sign an extension. He could therefore be moved on this summer to free up funds and squad space.

“And Premier League rivals United and Liverpool are expected to be among the teams who speak to Kovacic’s representatives over a possible bid.

“It is unclear how much Chelsea could demand for the Croatian midfielder.”
