Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in signing 24 year old Chelsea star Mason Mount, according to Football Insider via The Hard Tackle.

The report adds: “Mount has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2024, and the two parties have not been able to agree on a contract extension. Apparently, the Chelsea midfielder wants to be one of the highest-paid players at the club and the Blues are not willing to accept his demands.

“Chelsea are now left with the option to cash in on him at the end of the season. They will not want to lose him as a free agent next summer. But recent reports have hinted that a compromise might be on the cards.

“Mount will hope to join a club in the UEFA Champions League if he leaves Chelsea, and Newcastle United are certainly well-placed to secure a top-four finish this season. They have been hugely impressive throughout the campaign, and it remains to be seen whether they can finish the season strongly now.

“Furthermore, Newcastle United are one of the richest clubs in the world and they have the financial resources to tempt Chelsea into selling their academy graduate. Mount is one of the most talented attacking midfielders in the country right now, and he could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Newcastle.”
