Premier League side Newcastle United are threatening to hijack Chelsea’s permanent transfer for loan star Joao Felix, according to The Sun.
The 23 year old Portugal international joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid in January until the end of the season.
Chelsea want to sign the Portugal international permanently but are reluctant to pay Atletico Madrid’s asking price of £89million.
Newcastle United have now joined the race for Felix as they close in on a Champions League finish.
Newcastle United are prepared to splash the cash for the transfer of Felix if they secure Champions League football for next season.
Felix cost Atletico a club-record £113million when he joined in 2019 from Benfica but Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone doesn’t want him back at the Spanish side.
