Chelsea are reportedly interested in hiring former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann as Chelsea boss but how good is the German tactician?

Nagelsmann’s first senior job was with German club Hoffenheim. He took over Hoffenheim in in February 2016 with the club fighting a relegation battle and down in 17th place.

Nagelsmann was able to keep Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga before leading them to a fourth-placed finish the following season, making the UEFA Champions League qualifiers for the first time. That was followed by a third-place finish in the 2018-19 league season after which he joined RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in Nagelsmann’s debut season in charge. The next season, they reached the final of the DFB-Pokal, where they lost to Borussia Dortmund. He achieved both feats while solidifying Leipzig’s place as a top-four team in the Bundesliga.

The 35 year old left RB Leipzig for Bayern Munich ahead of the 2021-22 season. He led Bayern Munich to a league and cup double in his first season in charge but Bayern Munich crashed out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage..

Bayern won the Super Cup once again this season and were at the top of the Bundesliga when Nagelsmann was sacked. They had also made the quarterfinals of the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
