Chelsea are confident of extending the contract of midfielder Mason Mount which could deliver a fresh blow to Liverpool’s transfer plans, according to a report on 90min.

Mount is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal and is attracting interest from Premier League side Liverpool.

According to 90min, another round of negotiations between Chelsea and Mount has been scheduled for the coming weeks.

Mount has been reluctant to sign the usual six, seven or even eight years which have been handed out to various players across the season and Chelsea recently hinted at a willingness to agree to a shorter contract, having tied left-back Ben Chilwell down to a four-year deal.
