Ben Chilwell has taken to social media to apologise for receiving a red card in last night’s Champions League first-leg defeat to Real Madrid.
The Blues lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the Spanish capital last night, with goals coming in each half from Kairm Benzema and Marco Asensio.
Chilwell will miss the second-leg at Stamford Bridge next week after being shown a straight red card for pulling back Rodrygo when the Real Madrid forward went through on goal.
“Slept on it and just want to apologise to my team-mates and the fans,” Chilwell wrote on Twitter following his red card.
“I made the decision in a split-second last night and it was a mistake. I always give everything for the team and I will continue to do so.
“Thank you for the continued support.”
