Richard Keys believes Chelsea owner Todd Boehly should have hired Emma Hayes, manager of the Chelsea Women, instead of Frank Lampard as interim manager.

Hayes’ record as Chelsea women boss speaks for itself and is better than Lampard’s, according to Keys. During her tenure, Hayes has delivered five Women’s Super League titles, four FA Cups, and two League Cup trophies – a record Lampard would like to emulate in his managerial career.

Speaking on Chelsea’s recruitment of Lampard, Keys said on Twitter: “In this rash of managerial changes I wonder how many BAME candidates have been interviewed?

“My guess is none. And was Emma Hayes considered at Chelsea? It’s her club as well and she’s had more coaching success than the new men’s coach.”
