Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City have an ‘incredible opinion’ of Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia with the midfielder attracting interest from Chelsea.

The 19 year old midfielder left Manchester City last summer for Southampton and Guardiola has hailed his development at Southampton.

Manchester City reportedly have an option to buy the youngster back for £40million, although that clause is said to only become active in 2024.

“I am really impressed with what Romeo has done and is doing,” Guardiola said.

“We had, and we have, an incredible opinion about him. We thought to keep him, but maybe he would not (get) enough minutes like he has in Southampton.”
