Simon Jordan has insisted Chelsea not signing a striker isn’t an excuse for the Blues scoring just 29 goals in 29 league games this season.

According to Jordan, players like Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling have disappointed and should be scoring more goals for Chelsea.

Havertz, who has been used up front on some occasions, has scored seven league goals this season, while Sterling has got four.

Chelsea have scored just 29 goals in the Premier League this season, which is way short of Arsenal and Manchester City’s tallies of 70 and 71 respectively.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “It’s unfathomable [Chelsea haven’t signed a striker], isn’t it? For all of us sitting across this table, for the whole football fraternity, it’s almost beggar’s belief.

“But it doesn’t excuse the fact that Man City didn’t have a centre-forward and they scored hatfuls of goals last year. So why can’t Havertz score some more goals?

“Why can’t Sterling chip in with some more goals when he’s fit? Why can’t the players that are perfectly capable of scoring goals in this side, score some goals?”
