Chelsea are languishing down in 11th in the Premier League in what has been described by the new owners as a transition year for the club.
However, former Chelsea star Gus Poyet insists there’s nothing like transition at Chelsea as fans expect Chelsea to win trophies and play Champions League football every season.
Poyet told Evening Standard: “For a team like Chelsea, I don’t believe in transition years,” says the Uruguayan. “When they go a year without winning a trophy, it doesn’t matter what they did the year before. No trophy and no Champions League football would be a very bad season for Chelsea.
“Every time you aim for less than that, you are not part of a winning mentality.”
