Chelsea owner Todd Boehly reportedly paid a world record fee to bring Graham Potter to Chelsea from Brighton.
Boehly sacked Champions League winning manager Thomas Tuchel after just seven games this season and quickly replaced the German by stealing Potter from Brighton in a matter of days.
But that move wasn’t without its costs. To be precise, £21.5 million ($26.3m) in compensation which was paid to the Seagulls, as revealed by Standard Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella via GOAL.
The exorbitant figure is a result of Potter being contracted at Brighton all the way through to 2025, and it is thought to be football’s world record compensation sum for a manager.
While Potter’s replacement at Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi, has improved Brighton, Potter has struggled at Chelsea with the Blues currently 10th in the Premier League.
