Chelsea advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Stamford Bridge and 2-1 on aggregate.
Despite the impressive result, Rio Ferdinand, who won the Champions League in 2008 with Manchester United, was keen to stress he did not think Chelsea would win the tournament.
Ferdinand told BT Sport: “I wouldn’t put them anywhere near being favourites, no disrespect, just because of their form and where other teams are in comparison.
“The difference this result can make for confidence right now is great, but you have to take it game by game. You can’t look any further than this weekend.”
Chelsea will next be in action when the Blues face Leicester on Saturday.
