Man City ready to move for £97million World Cup star who nearly joined Chelsea

According to Daily Star, Manchester City will push to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol in the summer if they lose Aymeric Laporte this summer.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Laporte in the summer and Manchester City are willing to let the 28 year old Spain international leave if an offer of around £60million is received.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly a huge admirer of Gvardiol and has urged the Manchester City hierarchy to sign the 21 year old who impressed for Croatia at the World Cup.

Chelsea came close to signing Gvardiol last summer and remain interested in signing the 21 year old RB Leipzig centre-back ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 21 year old centre-back.

Gvardiol, capped 19 times by Croatia, signed a new deal with RB Leipzig in December, which runs until 2027 and includes a whopping £97m release clause.
