According to The Telegraph, Chelsea will look to sell 31 year old Senegalese international defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer and bring back 20 year academy graduate Levi Colwill to the club.
Colwill has impressed on loan at Brighton and Chelsea believe he will be ready to compete for a place on the left side of the central defence with Benoît Badiashile next season.
While Koulibaly may be sold at the end of the season, the 31 year old has started Chelsea’s last three games and may be needed over what could be a crucial period for Graham Potter after Chelsea released a statement on Thiago Silva’s injury that said: “Having sustained a knee injury during the first half of Sunday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, Thiago underwent further assessment and a scan on his return to the training centre on Monday.
“Scan results from those assessments have confirmed damage to Thiago’s knee ligaments and he will now work closely with the club’s medical department during his rehabilitation to return to action as soon as possible.”
