Chelsea have reportedly renewed interest in signing RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol despite having five centre-backs at the club.
Chelsea already have Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva as centre-back options at the club.
According to The Times, Chelsea have renewed interest in signing Gvardiol this year to avoid paying a £97 million release clause for the RB Leipzig defender.
The centre back, who has been on Chelsea’s radar since the age of 17, signed a new deal with Leipzig in December, which runs until 2027 and is understood to include a release clause that comes into effect from 2024.
