Chelsea have made renewing the contract of midfielder Mateo Kovacic a priority for the club ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider via Goal.

Kovacic’s Chelsea contract expires next year and Chelsea could lose him for free next year if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

The report on Goal states: “Chelsea are not considering selling Mateo Kovačić in the summer and are ready to open a fresh round of contract talks with the midfielder, according to Football Insider.

“Sources have told Football Insider that the Blues are prioritising renewing the Croatian’s contract alongside N’Golo Kanté’s, with both players considered to be integral to the club’s plans for the future.”
