Despite Chelsea fans calling for Todd Boehly to sack Graham Potter following a run of just two wins in fourteen games, talkSPORT host Mark Goldbridge has urged Boehly to stick with Potter.

Goldbridge told talkSPORT: “Chelsea fans, look I know, I’ve heard it all, I’ve seen the previous show.

“‘Potter out, Potter in, taxi for Potter’. Do you know what I think? I don’t think you can sack him.

“I really think it’s wrong to spend £200million on [Thomas] Tuchel and then sack him two months later, and then spend £300m with Potter and sack him one month later. That’s not how you run a football club.”

He continued: “Another take I don’t agree with from Gabby to be fair, saying, ‘sack him for that post-match interview.’

“You’re talking about somebody’s livelihood here, Chelsea have given him an opportunity, they’ve given him £300m, I think that works both ways.

“I think that they need to give him the support and the backing – Chelsea are not winning the league. I don’t think they’re going to get top four.

“The Champions League is still there, I think what have you got to lose seeing it through until the end of the season?

“You’re genuinely not going to get into the top four race, and you’re not going to win the Champions League, so what is there to lose?

“I almost feel if I’m a [Mauricio] Pochettino as well, and no-one has mentioned this, if I’m a Pochettino, I’d probably say, ‘I’ll come in the summer’.

“‘Because you know what? If I come in now and the results are bad, the fans will be calling for me and you will sack me as well’.

“So I think you’ve got to give him until the end of the season there.”

He added: “I would actually say that Potter is more qualified for the job than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ever was for Manchester United.

“He did win a lot of games at the start, but I just think that it’s so easy in life and in football to just blame the manager.”
