Former Blues star Tony Cascarino has blamed Chelsea boss Graham Potter for Chelsea’s lack of goals.

The Blues have scored just once in 5 games and have scored a total of 23 goals in 23 league games this season.

Cascarino told talkSPORT: “Take Solly March at Brighton, why did he have such a dreadful record?

“Now you’re seeing him play in a role at Brighton where he’s getting in positions where he scores goals.

“What was Raheem Sterling doing at Man City, why did he get 20-plus goals? Because he was told to get in certain positions, when the ball is on the other side, you get in and become like nearly in a centre forward role or at the far post area where you will have a simple tap-in.”

When asked by talkSPORT host Natalie Sawyer if the Blues boss was not telling his players to get into scoring positions, Cascarino replied: “Well no.

“It’s just that players are not, you’re doing a formation and then you’re doing the set pieces, you’re doing everything in the game to get goals.

“Bodies in boxes score goals, so you have to be in positions where, funnily enough, some of the best goal scorers I ever played with happen to be standing when the ball dropped to them.”
