Liverpool are pushing hard to sign 24 year old Chelsea star Mason Mount amid an impasse in his ongoing contract talks with Chelsea, according to Daily Mail.
Mount’s future at Stamford Bridge has been thrown into doubt as there is a significant gap between Mount’s contract demands and Chelsea’s contract offer.
The England international is believed to want to treble his £80,000-a-week wages and the Chelsea hierarchy have reportedly become resigned to the midfielder not extending his contract.
Mount has 18 months remaining on his current Chelsea deal and the Blues are reportedly open to selling the midfielder in the summer.
Liverpool are reportedly hoping to take advantage in the breakdown in talks between Chelsea and Mount.
Mount has played 190 times for Chelsea since coming through the club’s academy, scoring 33 goals.
He was part of Chelsea’s Champions League winning side in 2021 and has played for England in two major tournaments. He has been named as the club’s player of the year in the last two seasons.
