Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to bottom of the league Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Southampton outplaying Chelsea in the first-half.

It was well deserved victory for Southampton as the Blues put in our worst display at Stamford Bridge in years.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has blamed himself for Chelsea’s poor first-half performance against Southampton.

Potter said: “It was [a step backwards], certainly in the first half. Returning from the Champions League and we had to make some changes, we lose a bit of fluidity and cohesion.

“Southampton mixed the game well but our performance wasn’t what we wanted in the first half and I take as much responsibility in that.

“Second half was good and we deserved a goal. But when you don’t, it’s obviously difficult.”
