Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has given Chelsea the greenlight to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer.

Osimhen has emerged as a top transfer target for Chelsea having enjoyed a stellar campaign with Napoli, scoring 18 goals and making four assists in just 22 appearances so far this season.

Roma boss Jose Mourinho recently compared Osimhen favourably to Didier Drogba, though added: ‘But Didier didn’t dive.’

“That’s because Didier was too strong to dive!” former Chelsea and Napoli forward Zola told Sky Sports.

“I see a lot of similarities but it’s unfair to compare players from different eras. They both play with a lot of physicality and they are both very good with scoring, taking their opportunities.

“He’s a very complete player. He’s got a good reference going forward, he can link up play and he’s devastating in the air. He’s a pest to defenders.”

“Chelsea would have a lot of competition not only from the Premier League, a lot of big teams would like to have him,” Zola added.

“I don’t know what is going to happen. If Napoli win the league and do well in the Champions League they will want to keep him. We will see.

“A lot will depend on his desire. I think the task in the Premier League would be different to the Italian league.”
