Chelsea star Raheem Sterling is eager to feature for the Blues against Southampton this weekend after missing Chelsea’s last two games, according to Daily Mail.

Wary of the recurring injuries the club has already suffered this season, Chelsea have been keen to avoid taking any risks with Sterling and opted against rushing him back.

Sterling suffered a hamstring injury against former club Manchester City but recovered from that in time to make a second-half appearance against Fulham a fortnight ago.

But he has missed Chelsea’s last two games against West Ham and Borussia Dortmund after suffering a knock to the knee in training.

Sterling was hopeful of playing against Borussia Dortmund but the Blues were not willing to take that risk with the England international.

Sterling is now eyeing his injury comeback against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
