Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has blasted Chelsea for spending £600million on new signings without buying a recognised centre-forward.

Despite creating a number of chances and having 21 shots in the match, Chelsea failed to score against Dortmund, with Karim Adeyemi’s superb solo goal enough to separate the sides.

According to Carragher, Graham Potter has a ‘massive problem’ at Chelsea as he is still without a ‘recognised’ striker despite the huge spending at Stamford Bridge.

Carragher told CBS Sports: “When you actually think of the money Chelsea have spent, not just in [January], in the August window as well, and to think you’re playing a full season without a recognised, top-quality centre forward, it’s just baffling.

“You think, ‘It’s £600m being spent and you don’t have someone at the top end of the pitch who can score a goal’.

“Chelsea’s massive problem this season has been scoring goals. I think they’ve scored just more than maybe one goal a game in the Premier League, and that’s nowhere near enough for a club the size of Chelsea and also the revenue that’s been spent on that team, that’s a massive problem.

“Considering Chelsea have spent £600m and they don’t have a centre-forward is just crazy and that game summed it up. They need someone who can put the ball into the back of the net.”
