According to Evening Standard, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is ready to sell Mason Mount in the summer if the Chelsea academy graduate doesn’t extend his contract before the end of the season.

Mount will have just one year left on his Chelsea contract by the end of the season and the England international is yet to reach an agreement with the club over a new contract.

Boehly is reportedly handling contract negotiations with Mount and has offered Mount a seven year contract which the midfielder has rejected.

Mount currently earns around £80,000-a-week at Chelsea, which makes him one of the squad’s lowest earners, and the 24 year old is rumoured to be seeking wages of around £240,000-a-week.

Chelsea do not want to offer a significant increase on Mount’s current terms and are instead arguing that the lengthy contract offer provides ‘security’ in the long term.

It has been noted that, of Chelsea’s eight permanent additions, the average salary is around £70,000-a-week – which is less than what Mount currently earns.

As things stand, little progress has been made on contract negotiations with Mount and Boehly is reportedly ready to sell the midfielder in the summer if no agreement is reached.

Liverpool and other ‘Big Six’ Premier League clubs are monitoring Mount’s situation at Chelsea and are ready to make a move for the midfielder if he becomes available in the summer.
