Manchester United tried to sign Chelsea transfer target Declan Rice from West Ham last summer but had a £100million bid rejected, according to talkSPORT via Metro.

West Ham were unwilling to let Rice leave last summer but have now changed their stance with the midfielder unwilling to sign a contract extension with the east London club.

Rice has less than 18 months left on his contract and West Ham are reportedly open to letting him leave if they receive an offer of £120million plus add-ons for their star player.

Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea on Deadline Day for a British record £107million and West Ham boss David Moyes believes Rice is worth more.

Moyes said: “Declan was a top player in the first half, he showed so many things.

“Undoubtedly he’s going to be a top player and undoubtedly he’ll be a British transfer record and more whenever he leaves West Ham.”
