Former Chelsea forward Christian Atsu is trapped under rubble after an earthquake in Turkey, according to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu via Goal.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked areas of Turkey and Syria on Monday, causing devastation across the countries.

While several players of Hatayspor have been rescued following the earthquake, Atsu and club sporting director Taner Savut are still unaccounted for. A search and rescue operation is underway.

Atsu spent four years at Chelsea after joining from Porto but made no Premier League appearance for the Blues. He left Chelsea for Newcastle United in 2017 and joined Hatayspor in 2022.
