West Ham boss Davis Moyes has claimed West Ham centre-back Nayef Aguerd and Newcastle defender Sven Botman are better than Chelsea new boy Benoit Badiashile.
Speaking after West Ham drew 1-1 with Newcastle, Moyes said: “In the opening four or five games of the season, we had no centre-halves with Craig Dawson injured, with Angelo Ogbonna not back from the cruciate (injury). We were really toiling at the start of the season.
“I’ve got to say I compare (Aguerd) a lot to Botman. Botman and Aguerd, I thought, were probably the two best left footed centre-backs in France.
“Obviously there’s the boy who has gone to Chelsea (Badiashile), and there’s a few others. But they (Botman and Aguerd) were in a similar category.”
Badiashile has been a standout player since joining Chelsea from Monaco in January. The talented centre-half has registered a clean sheet in all three of his fixtures for the Blues.
