Chelsea are plotting a transfer deadline day move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after closing in on a record-breaking deal for Enzo Fernandez, according to The Guardian.

Fernandez is Chelsea’s top target as the Blues look to strengthen the midfield before Tuesday night’s deadline and there is growing belief on both sides that a move will be completed. 

Despite closing in on the signing of Fernandez from Benfica, Chelsea’s owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, remain interested in signing Brighton midfielder Caicedo.

The Blues had a £55million offer for the 21 year old Ecuador international rejected by Brighton. Premier League rivals Arsenal have also had several bids rejected for Caicedo.

Any move for Caicedo would likely be dependant on outgoings, however, with Hakim Ziyech, Conor Gallagher and Jorginho all linked with departures ahead of the transfer deadline.

Arsenal are interested in signing Jorginho while PSG are in talks with Chelsea to sign Ziyech. Everton, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are all interested in signing Gallagher.
