With the transfer window set to close on Tuesday evening, Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is now pushing to join Chelsea, according to Portuguese media outlet Record.
After talks between Chelsea and Benfica broke down earlier this month, Fernandez reportedly told the Benfica hierarchy that he was willing to stay until the end of the season but has now had a change of heart and wants to join Chelsea immediately.
Members of Chelsea’s hierarchy are now travelling to Lisbon in order to negotiate directly with Benfica, similar to how they secured a deal ahead of Arsenal for Mykhailo Mudryk earlier this month.
Chelsea are reportedly confident an agreement can be reached with Benfica for the transfer of Fernandez before the Tuesday transfer deadline.
