Manchester City are interested in signing Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell as a replacement for Joao Cancelo, according to The Sun.

Cancelo is set to join German champions Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season with Bayern Munich having the option to sign him permanently for €70million.

Manchester City were interested in Chilwell’s signature during his Leicester City days but opted against paying his £42million release clause as he instead moved to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will need to move on some players after spending heavily last summer and during the January transfer window.

Manchester City believe Chilwell could be available in the summer if Chelsea receive an acceptable offer for the left-back.
