Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has suggested Moises Caicedo has made a “mistake” with his demand to leave the club amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

After Brighton rejected bids from Chelsea and Arsenal for Caicedo, the Ecuador international posted a message on social media asking to leave Brighton.

Brighton signed Caicedo from Independiente del Valle in 2021 for £4.5million and would only allow the midfielder leave if they receive an offer of £90million.

After Caicedo took to social media to express his desire to leave, he was issued a stay-at-home warning by Brighton and also dropped from their squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

De Zerbi said: “Moises is a good guy. We will see what happens tomorrow and the next day. We hope he stays with us until the end of the season, but this is a question of the club and Moises.”

De Zerbi added: “In life you can make mistakes. There are many solutions for everyone and we will see the best solution for the club, for him and for us.”
