Chelsea have reportedly returned to the negotiating table with Portuguese club Benfica for the transfer of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Chelsea have submitted a new offer of €100million plus any player of Benfica’s choice for the transfer of Fernandez.

The Blues are now waiting for Benfica president Rui Costa to make a decision on the latest offer from Chelsea.

While Fernandez is reportedly keen on joining Chelsea this January, the 21 year old World Cup winner with Argentina isn’t pushing for a move. He is happy to wait for both clubs to reach an agreement.

Chelsea submitting a new offer for Fernandez means the Blues have cooled interest in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after a £55million offer was rejected by Brighton.
